Council Tax Energy Support

South Somerset District Council (SSDC) have asked us to share the following as they are concerned their residents in vulnerable circumstances have not yet applied for their rebate.

If your clients are in the SSDC catchment area check if they have:

Received the £150 Government Council Tax Energy Rebate. If yes, then no further action is required.

If they have not received the payment:

Have they received a reminder letter from South Somerset District Council inviting them to apply for the payment?

If they have not received a letter inviting them to claim their rebate, it could be that SSDC do not believe they are eligible. The eligibility criteria can be found on the SSDC website.

If yes, have they applied online using the letter?

YES - Please wait 20 days from the date of application for receipt of funds.

If NO. If an application is not received from householders before 01 September 2022, the rebate will automatically be paid to their Council Tax account. They will be able to request a refund of this payment via our online form.
